Hey guys, Scott here. We thought you backers might be interested in hearing some demos of “It Was a Dark and Stormy Night”, as well as some more info about how the song came about. Reese already shed some light on how this reunion got kicked off in his interview with Relevant. Well, the intro to what became the new song was among the first things I worked on after we first discussed the possibility of reuniting. Here’s the rough demo I threw together back in May of 2010…

Kickstarter Show Update [Cheaper Tix] -
Hey rockers, we wanted to give you some more details about the Kickstarter show we’ll be doing in a few months. We realize asking $200 is high, especially for a Five Iron show, but this one is going to be extra special. Aside from the fact that it will be our first show in over 8 years, this will be an intimate setting, as we will be performing at a small venue and are limiting it to approximately 400-500 people. We are also having the show catered, and all of us will be hanging out throughout the evening as we’d love a chance to meet as many of you as we can. Still, we know that there are many of you that would love to attend but can’t swing the $200. So we have decided to give everyone who makes this pledge a +1, effectively cutting the price of this special show in half. This, of course, applies to anyone who has already made this pledge as well. This also means we have to reduce the number of available tickets, though, so we can keep this an intimate show. We hope this helps!
Can anyone believe how well-received our Kickstarter fundraiser has been? We are humbled, thrilled and excited for what the future holds for Five Iron Frenzy. Obviously the funds have far exceeded our initial goal of $30,000.
Needless to say, we are already working on new material for the album. Because so many people have graciously given we have broadened our horizons to shows and festivals! We are also in the process of combining our schedules (all of us do have full time committed day jobs as well as families) and will keep you posted on future shows.
We want you all to know we do not take lightly the fact that so many of you long to see us play live once again. That being said, please keep in mind we are looking at the big picture when it comes to the future of FIF, and evaluating what your generous pledges have made possible. Once the fundraiser has ended and we’ve paid the fees owed to Kickstarter, Uncle Sam, the cost to fulfill the pledge rewards, recording expenses, and promotion, we will have a much better idea of what we can accomplish, and how often we can play.
We are excited to get out there again and see you at the shows!

A Note from FIF: We can’t believe it has actually been 8 years ago today that we rocked out with you at the Fillmore in Denver, on a snowy evening as we celebrated our last show. Now, all these years (and marriages and kids) later we feel the desire to write new material and make a record!
So, down to business:
We need your support now more than ever. The inspiration and energy to create an amazing record is there but this time we will be working without the support of a label. This gives us incredible artistic freedom, but it also means we need to raise our own financing.
Our hope is to release an album in 2013, ten years after our initial final show. We are shooting for the financial goal of $30,000. Your pledges will be used to pay for demoing new material, recording, mixing, mastering, and associated travel expenses.
Keep in mind, this budget covers making the album only. Every dollar we raise over $30,000 will be used for such things as promotion of the album once it’s released because we think it would be great to have this album reach as many people as possible! Additional funds could also enable us to play some shows, because yes, we would love to play shows! We will keep you posted every step of the way.
We have recorded this song for you as a little taste of our new material. We are super proud of how it turned out and hope you rock out to it and share it with your friends.

To our absolute joy this band continues to be more than just a band to many of you….and you are more than just folks at a show to us.
